The Provost serves as Dartmouth's chief academic officer and chief budget officer, responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, and upholding academic integrity throughout the institution. Collaborating closely with faculty and administrators, the Provost advances programs, teaching, and scholarship across the institution, encompassing the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Geisel School of Medicine, the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, the Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business. In partnership with the Dean of the Faculty and academic deans, the Provost actively supports faculty recruitment, retention, and professional development, fostering an environment conducive to cutting-edge research and innovation.
The Provost's Divisional Leadership oversees admissions and financial aid, student affairs, entrepreneurship and technology transfer, global travel and learning, Institutional Research, Dartmouth Libraries, Information Technology, and the research infrastructure at the institution.
Additionally, the Provost is pivotal in guiding various research-focused centers, institutes, and programs across diverse areas such as medicine, the arts, engineering, and business. They are committed to promoting collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community, engaging with stakeholders to advance Dartmouth's mission and vision. The Provost encourages innovative teaching methodologies and the integration of technology in education while promoting sustainability and environmental initiatives within academic and administrative operations.
