About the Vice Provost

The Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, Dr. Eric R. Fossum, is best known for the invention of the CMOS image sensor “camera-on-a-chip” used in billions of cameras, from smart phones to web cameras to pill cameras and many other applications.  He is a solid-state image sensor device physicist and engineer, and his career has included academic and government research, and entrepreneurial leadership. He has been a professor with the Thayer School of Engineering since 2010, where he teaches, performs research, and directs the School’s Ph.D. Innovation Program.

About the Office

The Office of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer (OETT), led by the Vice Provost, serves as a proactive resource for the Dartmouth community in the areas of entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and technology commercialization. The OETT is responsible for the management of entrepreneurship, through the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship and technology transfer related activities for students, faculty, and alumni.

The mission of the OETT is to support Dartmouth's vision for experiential learning and energize and organize the entrepreneurial ecosystem in support of Dartmouth entrepreneurs.
