Biography

Julia Tanton is a strategic communications leader with more than a decade of experience shaping high-impact storytelling and engagement for mission-driven organizations. She served as Managing Director of Communications for the Private Sector Engagement division in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she also held several senior communications roles. In this role, she led innovative digital strategies to elevate USAID’s $40 billion portfolio of public-private partnerships and directed global messaging and outreach for Feed the Future, the U.S. government’s flagship food security and nutrition initiative.

She began her career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda, teaching early literacy and leading youth programs, and later served as a Communications Specialist at the U.S. African Development Foundation.

After more than a decade in Washington, DC, Julia is excited to be back home in New England and lives in Hanover with her husband and three children. Outside of work, she enjoys baking and trail running.
