GOLD-UE Bargaining Update

To the Guarini community,

I write to provide an update on negotiations between Dartmouth and GOLD-UE.

We have been engaged in good-faith bargaining with the union for a first contract since August and have met six times. Dartmouth's bargaining team includes representatives from the faculty, Human Resources, and the Office of the General Counsel. During our meetings, the two parties have exchanged contract proposals and had in-depth discussions about the parties' questions and concerns that have informed those proposals. At the most recent meeting, on Oct.19, Dartmouth and GOLD-UE reached tentative agreements on contract provisions for health and safety, training, severability, agreement, and recognition. Dartmouth is pleased that the parties are already finding points of agreement in this process

Dartmouth is fully supportive of the graduate students in our community. We are also committed to working with GOLD-UE in the collective bargaining process to come to a mutually beneficial agreement that covers the terms and conditions of GOLD-UE members' employment.

I look forward to updating you periodically on our progress. An overview and FAQs about graduate union organization at Dartmouth are available on the provost's website.

Sincerely,

David Kotz
