Notification of Election Dates for Union Vote

To the Guarini School Community:

As many of you know, the Graduate Organized Laborers of Dartmouth, a group of graduate students affiliated with United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (GOLD-UE), are seeking to form a union to become exclusive representatives of graduate students at Dartmouth.

The election, administered by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) through secret ballot, will be held on April 11 and 12.

Everyone eligible to vote is encouraged to participate in this important decision as the outcome of the election will be decided by a majority of those who vote – not the entire unit, and the consequences will affect all students – both present and future.

Dartmouth believes the choice to seek union representation is up to each individual and that seeking out a diversity of voices and opinions in democratic elections is essential given the range of programs and students that fall under the proposed bargaining unit. Dartmouth fully supports the rights of individuals to express their will in this historic election.

The times and tentative locations (subject to final NLRB approval) of this in-person vote are as follows:

Tuesday, April 11
Hanover Campus
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Campus
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, April 12
Hanover Campus
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Campus
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The election will be conducted by secret ballot, in accordance with the NLRB's standard process. Students who are on the eligible voter list as members of the proposed bargaining unit will be receiving separate communications with more specific details from the NLRB.

Sincerely,

Dave
