The invention2impact group will draw on their own experience, internal and benchmarking information gathered by a dedicated team of consultants, and extensive follow-up queries to map the existing infrastructure (internal institutional resources and practices) and ecosystem (intramural, affiliated, community-based, and national networks) that support the translation of patentable Dartmouth innovations in science and technology to broader societal impact, and identify opportunities for improvement. With support from the consultants, the i2i group will then guide the preparation of a report that synthesizes the findings and makes specific recommendations to the Provost, each designed to help Dartmouth maximize the societal impact of its STEM discoveries relative to our current state and our peer institutions, e.g., by enhancing the internal infrastructure or strengthening or broadening relevant external relationships within its STEM translational ecosystem.
