Graduate Student Unionization at Dartmouth

Dartmouth is committed to providing the best possible experience for our graduate students, including world-class research training, professional development programs, and a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to student well-being and quality of life.

Dartmouth and the Graduate Organized Laborers of Dartmouth-United Electrical Workers Local 261 (GOLD-UE) reached their first collective bargaining agreement (CBA), which the GOLD-UE membership ratified on June 24. This three-year contract aligns Dartmouth with peer institutions, ensuring consistency and fairness while preserving Dartmouth's unique strengths and commitments. It reflects Dartmouth's dedication to supporting our graduate students while upholding our core values and supporting our operational needs.

An implementation team is ensuring all contractual benefits are in place. Some benefits, such as retirement plan participation, will begin once the team has the required information and Dartmouth's systems are updated. Other benefits may require additional systems and processes.

Updates are available on the graduate school's collective bargaining agreement webpage and will be sent to the Guarini community in a bi-weekly newsletter.
