Search Launches for Permanent Chief Information Officer

The vice president and CIO will lead Information, Technology and Consulting.

Dartmouth has launched a search for the next vice president and chief information officer to lead Information, Technology and Consulting.

The CIO will oversee enterprise technology, cybersecurity, research computing, enterprise systems, and business transformation while providing strategic guidance on technology governance, resource allocation, operational resilience, and emerging technologies.

ITC serves as Dartmouth's central home for enterprise technology, infrastructure, and digital services across campus. The CIO's leadership is particularly instrumental in providing vision, direction, and management for ITC, working in close partnership with academic and administrative units, faculty, and the broader Dartmouth community to advance the institution's technology strategy and support its teaching, research, and operational needs.

"As we begin the search for our next vice president and chief information officer, we are eager to hear your perspectives on the qualities, priorities, and opportunities that should guide this important appointment," said Provost Santiago Schnell, who invites members of the Dartmouth community to provide their input by Sept. 30 on what factors should guide the appointment.

Thomas DeChiaro, who has been serving as interim CIO since May 2025, will continue serving in that role until the position is filled.

The search committee will be chaired by Erin DeSilva, senior associate provost for learning innovation. In addition to DeSilva, the committee includes:

  • Libby Barlow, senior associate provost for institutional research and effectiveness
  • Daniel Chamberlain, associate dean of libraries, research and digital strategies

  • Adam Kleinbaum, professor of leadership and organizations, Tuck School of Business
  • Eugene Santos, Sydney E. Junkins 1887 Professor of Engineering, Thayer School of Engineering
