Mary Lou Aleskie Appointed as the Howard Gilman '44 Executive Director of the Hopkins Center for the Arts

Provost Kotz announced this week that Mary Lou Aleskie has been appointed as the Howard Gilman '44 Executive Director of the Hopkins Center for the Arts. The full announcement from the provost is below:

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mary Lou Aleskie as the Howard Gilman '44 Executive Director of the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Mary Lou has been the Director of the Hopkins Center for the Arts since spring 2017, and her new appointment continues through June 2027.

The Hop has been a vibrant hub for performing arts at Dartmouth for almost six decades.  As announced earlier this month, the Hop is about to be expanded and revitalized – an undertaking guided by Mary Lou's vision and leadership.

Mary Lou is a powerful advocate for the Hop and the arts, with a vision for the Hop to be a collaborative, diverse, and welcoming center that inspires collaboration, programming, and deeper engagements between artists and the Dartmouth community. Since becoming Director, Mary Lou has partnered with academic departments and program leaders to integrate the Hop and the arts more substantively in the Dartmouth curriculum and has provided students with a dynamic opportunity to connect with many disciplines across the arts. She continues to work tirelessly with donors, stakeholders, and campus leaders to make the Hop's renovation project a reality.

Please join me in congratulating Mary Lou on this new appointment and thanking her for five years of dedication, inspiration, and opportunity.

David Kotz, Provost
